Legal Weed

You might be wondering about legal weed, and if there really is such a thing. You may have seen legal bud for sale on some websites. The fact is that some websites sell what they call legal weed or legal bud, but all that means is that there is nothing illegal in the contents of what they send you.
Basically, the legal weed that you can buy on the Internet may turn out to be anything from tea leaves to some other herbal blend concocted for smoking. Some websites will list the herbs contained in the blend, some will not.
A lot of people buy legal bud expecting it to get them intoxicated. It comes as a disappointment when they smoke the legal weed and it does not give them the results they are looking for because the buds or herbs do not contain THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is the main chemical in marijuana that gets you high when you ingest it.
That is not to say that what you can buy from websites selling legal bud bearing names like Hawaiian Haze, Jamaican Gold Bud, and Orange Krush aren't good blends that can smoked on their own, or mixed with marijuana to produce some interesting flavored smoking mixes.
Actually, in the United States, more than half the states either have laws making medical marijuana legal or pending legislation. California was the first state to allow medical marijuana, with twelve other states following suit. As of September 2009 there were fifteen other states that were considering weighing legislation or ballot initiatives that could turn them into marijuana states by 2010.
In most of California's coastal metropolitan areas, marijuana is effectively legal today. Anyone over 18 who gets a note from a doctor can buy marijuana legally. Many doctors will write such notes, requiring a typical fee of approximately 200 dollars for doing so.
As of this writing there are over 700 dispensaries in the state of California that openly sell marijuana and related products such as hash. If a person has a medical prescription they can buy from the medical dispensaries. A prescription is given to a patient after an examination by a medical doctor and it is generally good for one year.
Many believe that marijuana is legal in the Netherlands, however it is not, it is tolerated there. Marijuana is mostly legal in the third world countries. In India it is reported that marijuana grows wild. While cannabis is illegal in most parts of the world, there are countries such Russia where small amounts are tolerated or Spain where it is legal to consume and grow plants on one's own private property.
The acceptance of medical marijuana in the United States may have repercussions that extend beyond helping those suffering from life-threatening and debilitating diseases. The widely perceived failed war on drugs, the current economic climate, and demographic change (the aging of the baby boomers) has led to a more relaxed attitude toward cannabis among many people.
In the late 1970's no more than 30% of the American public favored the legalization of marijuana, at the time of this writing it has increased to 40%. As the older generation of Americans are replaced by aging baby boomers, most of whom have smoked marijuana at some time or other, we will most likely see the percentage of those in favor of legal weed continue to increase.
